Day 99 - Stunned

Today we went for a walk.  We were walking under an underpass to get to a trail when we saw three ducks cross the road.  Or attempt to.  One of the ducks was hurt by a car that hit it.  Right in front of us.  I thought I was going to pass out - it made me so nauseous to see it happen.  Two of the ducks flew off and the hurt one lay in the middle of the road.  Some kids who were on the path behind us tried to check it out and the bird got upset and was able to fly off to the other side of the road.  We figured that if it was still there on our way back we would take it home and bring it to Blanford Nature Center in the morning (a sanctuary for injured animals).   The rest of our walk I kept thinking, "Please God, let this duck be okay."  I didn't want to have to deal with a duck that was injured in front of Addison.  When we got back to the spot I didn't see anything.  Then my eye spotted a duck - a mallard.  My thought, was "really Lord..."  However, when I went over there, the female companion was there as well.  It was the two ducks that had been with the injured duck.  The injured duck was nowhere to be seen.  I think he was just stunned by what happened. 

Tonight, I am thankful for a stunned duck. 

Dear Father - Thank you for taking care of this duck.  Thank you for wrapping your arms around him and keeping him safe.  Thank you for sparing me an overwhelming experience in trying to bring an injured duck home.  Amen.
