Day 71 - 14 more years and brussel sprouts

Today Addison asked me how old she would have to be before she was finally a grown up.  I told her she had to be at least 18.  She asked how many more years that was. I let her know "fourteen".  She sighed heavily and gave up on the conversation.

Later in the evening I also let Addison know that a criteria for becoming a grown up was eating her brussel sprouts - yes, I was trying to entice her to eat something new.  Three chewed up and spit out sprouts, lots of tears and a child determined she would rather not have snacks tonight than swallow that thing - I realized something.  I am so thankful for 14 more years.

Dear God - thank you for fourteen more years.  Thank you for allowing me to find your blessings in things such as brussel sprouts.  Thank you for the things you will teach me as a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend in the next fourteen years.  Amen.

How sweet. Not that I disagree. Even as a late comer to the love of veggies, I have never learned to like Brussel sprouts.
