Last week at a conference as part of a group session we were challenged to come up with as many ideas as we could related to one topic in three minutes. They didn't have to be realistic or viable ideas. Just ideas. The concept was that it is a great way to break through "feeling stuck."
As I sit here at my desk and I am feeling like there is a lot more paper than time, and a lot more deadlines that open hours I am going to give this a shot. Here is a three minute refocus as I think of what I am thankful for instead of throwing myself a pity party.
I have great kids
I have a husband who is awesome
My boss encouraged me to put "work life balance" as part of my professional mission statement today
This weekend we have plans with good friends
I got to see my brother and Nicki last weekend, and will see them again in two weeks.
I have a home that feels homey
Yesterday when I went home, it was clean
Tonight I don't have to think about dinner, other than picking up the pizza that my husband is going to order
I have a dog who likes to snuggle
I have a vacation to plan
My job is flexible
I have friends who are willing to listen to me
I have four grandparents for my kids who are willing to do anything they can to help raise them effectively
It's almost time to celebrate the holidays, I LOVE this time of year
It has been a warm fall
I have a husband who is willing to help with laundry, vacuuming, etc
My thumbnail that fell off is almost grown back
I have a slew of craft projects to look forward to working on
I have a kid who told me I was the best mom in the world last weekend
Whew. That was a lot of typing in three minutes. Okay, back to work. Pity party over. Who can feel down after reading that list?!
Dear God, thanks for a change in perspective. Amen.
