Day 209 - July 31st

Today I am thankful it is July 31st.  For many reasons.  This is the end of a very long month.  This week Wednesday will mark the end of the eight week period in which Jeff doubled up on classes.  This month had lots of "summer craziness".  Safety Town, swim lessons, weddings, golf weekends, fourth of July celebrations, trips to Chicago, etc.  The month of August is looking very appealing in terms of scheduling.  We have one weekend booked, and it doesn't involve traveling!  So, as we head into August we will be able to spend more time as a family, enjoying one another.

This is also our anniversary.  As I type this Jeff has headed out to pick up take out sushi, so we can celebrate over dinner tonight.  I am thinking about what we were doing seven years ago.  I had a big white dress on, and my new husband was looking quite dapper in his tuxedo.  We were spending time enjoying our family and friends - dancing, eating, drinking and laughing.  The same sort of stuff we try to enjoy everyday.  If there is anything that Jeff and I have perfected over the last seven years, it's how to laugh.  How to laugh when things are going well, and when they are not.  There have certainly been times where laughing has been the solution.  I am so thankful for our seven years, and everything we have experienced.  I'm a pretty lucky lady.

Dear God, thank you for the blessing of a new perspective with August.  Please allow us to take the time this month to slow down, enjoy one another and summer.  Allow us to find time to soak up the sun, laugh, enjoy the kids, and also spend time away from them.  Thank you for the extraordinary seven years we have had together in marriage so far.  Thank you for the blessings you bestow upon us regularly and for the tough times in which we have tried to perfect the art of humor.  Thank you for the tight hold you have on us.  Amen.
