Today I am thankful for change. This is something I talk about quite a bit with my clients. We talk about coming to expect change, learning how to embrace it, trying to resistance it, and the role it has in our lives. In my role as a therapist I am sometimes surprised when things that I talk about everyday with other people show up in my own life. It's like a wake up call - oh yeah, I am human and just because I have the knowledge does not mean I am immune. Totally ridiculous, I know. However, I am thankful that some of the things that are currently going on in my life will change, at some point. I am not implying there are things I am unhappy with. I am just saying, we can't do somethings forever. And we don't have to! A co-worker asked how our family was adjusting to me being back at work - it's been about 10 weeks but I don't think there is a week that has looked the same yet - but that's okay - change is good!
Dear Heavenly Father - thank you for guiding our lives with your hand. Thank you for whispering things in our ears to calm our hearts through conversations with co-workers, personal exploration, and surprising events. Thank you for giving us ways to grow and change regularly, in your plan.
Amen.
