Day 40 - Slobbery Kisses and Oma

Today I am thankful for wet, slobbery, ewey gooey kisses.  Olive has started this thing where if you kiss her on the lips she opens her mouth just enough to make you need to wipe yours after the kiss.  It's pretty gross...unless she's yours.  And then it brings joy to your heart.  And you want her to do never do it differently.  (At least that way we could ensure no need to worry about boys wanting to kiss her through her teen years!)

Tonight our little fam packed up and went to visit Oma, who is Jeff's Grandma.  She is the last living grandparent Jeff or I have.  I am so thankful that she has gotten to meet both of our girls.  I am so thankful for her.  I love Oma with all my heart, she truly is a special lady - but those of you who know me know that there is a reason that I am not a geriatric social worker.  So, as we joined her for her Valentine's dinner and all the elderly ladies stopped us to touch and ohh and ahh over the girls (this usually makes me a little nutty) I took a new outlook-it's all worth it.  For Oma - who is a special lady - that I love very much.

Dear Father, Thank you for wet slobbery kisses.  Thank you for helping me move beyond my own neurosis (to some degree) to enjoy the evening with Oma.  Thank you for blessing our family with her.  Thank you for the strength, heritage and determination she brings to our family.  Amen.
